I Stopped Chasing More. Here's What I Do With My Days Now.
Oct 12, 2026For a long time, my days had a familiar rhythm.
Find the next lead. Chase the next deal. Grow the business. Then wake up and do it again.
I spent more than 30 years in real estate, property management, and entrepreneurship. I'm grateful for all of it. That work taught me a great deal, and it gave me the foundation I'm standing on today.
But here's something I've noticed about "more." It never tells you when you've arrived. There's always another lead to chase. Another deal. Another bit of growth. If you let it, more will fill every day you give it.
So I made a change.
What I Don't Do Anymore
I no longer spend day after day chasing more leads and more business.
That's a simple sentence. But for someone who spent decades doing exactly that, it's a real change.
Instead, I work on things I thoroughly enjoy within my CGE ecosystem. And I love doing it.
Right now, I'm building CGE into something much bigger than a business. I'm working on three things:
- The CGE Journal and content platform: creating honest, relatable conversations around Reinventing Your Life, intentional living, relationships, entrepreneurship, and what it means to build a life on your own terms.
- Play. Stay. Reset.: developing experiences in Punta Cana that combine golf, travel, wellness, relationships, reflection, and simply getting away long enough to breathe and see things differently.
- The CGE Community: building a place where people can follow the journey, share their own struggles and resets, and realize they're not the only ones asking, "Is this really the life I want?"
I'm also documenting my own journey as I build all of this in real time. I don't have everything figured out, and that's actually part of what CGE is about.
All of it is work I've chosen, not work that chose me.
The Desire Was Already There
I want to be honest about something. This didn't come out of nowhere.
My desire for quiet time was already very active.
Now I get to act on it.
That's a big part of why I came to Punta Cana. I wanted to create space. Space to think. Space to write. Space to build. Not to stop working, but to choose what my days are made of.
What My Days Look Like Now
I don't have a perfect routine. But a few things are true most days.
Mornings start slow. Most mornings begin with coffee, quiet reflection, and a journal. Before the noise. Before anyone needs anything. That quiet matters to me, and I protect it.
Family gets more room. I'm purposely looking for more family time. Not someday. Now.
It happens on my terms. That's the real difference. I still work. I still build. But I decide what fills the day.
One of the biggest changes is how much quieter my days have become.
There are afternoons now when I can finish what actually needs to get done, close the computer, and realize I don't have to immediately chase the next deal, the next lead, the next opportunity, or the next dollar.
Sometimes I'll sit outside, have a coffee, look around at where I am, and realize that this is the life I spent so many years working toward, and I almost missed the point because I was always focused on what was next.
Now I might spend part of the afternoon working on CGE, take a break, spend time with Patricia, talk with family, play some golf, or simply do nothing for a while.
And honestly, doing nothing without feeling guilty about it is something I'm still learning.
That's probably one of the biggest differences between the life I was living and the life I'm trying to build now.
Time Is the Real Wealth
If life has taught me anything, it's this: time is more valuable than money.
Money can be earned back. A day can't. Every day I spend chasing something I don't really want is a day I don't get back for the people and the work I do want.
A lot of us say we believe that. Fewer of us live like it. Our calendars tell the truth about what we actually value, and sometimes the truth is uncomfortable.
That's not a reason for guilt. It's an invitation to look at your days a little more honestly.
Design One Ordinary Day
This week, I'm also sharing a video called You Don't Have to Destroy Your Life to Change It. This post is the everyday side of that idea. Change often starts with something as small as how you spend a single day.
So here's a simple exercise. Don't plan your dream vacation. Plan one ordinary day. A Tuesday.
Grab a notebook and answer four questions:
- What am I chasing day after day? Write it down. Then ask: do I still want this, or am I just used to chasing it?
- What would I thoroughly enjoy working on? Not what would impress anyone. What would you look forward to?
- Where is my quiet time? Coffee, a walk, a journal, a prayer, ten minutes outside. Where does it fit?
- Who do I want more time with? Put a name on it.
Now write out that ordinary Tuesday, hour by hour, the way you'd want it to go. Then pick one piece of it and make it real this week.
You don't have to change everything at once. You just have to start choosing.
I'm Still Becoming
I'm still asking the questions, the same as you.
What I know right now is this: I'd rather spend my days on what I love, with the people I love, on my own terms, than keep chasing more.
That's what I'm building toward. One ordinary day at a time.
Join the Journey
I'd love to hear from you.
What's one thing you'd stop chasing so you could spend more of your days on what you actually enjoy?
Come share it with us in The CGE Journey. Small answers count. Honest ones count most.
Here's to designing our days, together.
